It was two weeks to the day from the end of the war that a dark angel came tapping on the door for Sal.

Hunter, up on the roof, frowned down at her but felt himself compelled to just sit and watch as the winged one knocked again, every line of her body full of purpose and compassion.

She'd been slumped in the chair, watching Men With Brooms on DVD (the satellite television, despite everything being physically functional, would not work) and not cracking one smile for the duration of the film.

Which just served as an indicator of her altered mental state because usually that film had her in sitches.

When the doorbell rang she hit pause and shrugged off Kurt's arm, then padded to the doorway and opened it on up.

When she saw who was there, she grinned only slightly and stepped back, indicating that Joy should come in.

She quirked an eyebrow and then spoke for the first time in two weeks.

"...what?"

She shook her head. "Not goin' anywhere."

Sal lapsed back into silence and continued to shake her head.

She wasn't going anywhere. Nobody knew where the island was, much less how to get back to it. Whatever Jeimu had done had physically moved the island somewhere else. Somewhere foreign.

And so Sal was going to stay in her own living room, despite the fact that staying there had rendered her so depressed that the only person she would communicate with were her husband and children (and even then it wasn't verbal communication)... but she knew where she was, and that counted for something.

She smiled widely at the children, but then dealt Kurt quite the caustic look.

"I'm not going."

He'd have to shove her out the door.
